H-D/CAL Senior Payton McNealy has signed a letter of intent to play offensive line football at Grand View University in Des Moines.
McNealy has played football for all four years of high school. In 2021 he was selected to the 1st team All-District.

Hampton-Dumont's Ruben Salinas has signed a letter of intent to play for the RedTails Sports Shooting team at Hawkeye Community College.
Salinas is part of the Top Guns shooting club and has become a rising star in the field over the last six years, ranking seventh in a national amateur trapshooting organization and being named captain of the All-Star team.

Mike Swieter, a 1992 graduate of Hampton-Dumont, has been recognized as the 2021 Coach of the Year by the Iowa Football Coach's Association.
The honor punctuates a landmark season for Swieter, who coaches the Southeast Valley Jaguars and led them to their first state championship last November. Though his victories may go to another school, his football journey began on the field in Hampton.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls basketball start the year off hot defeating three of four opponents.
They’d drop a 48-50 loss against Aplington-Parkersburg at home on Nov. 22.
After the loss, the Bulldogs went on a three-game win streak.
On Nov. 29, they defeated AGWSR, 52-32.
On Friday, the girls traveled to Iowa Falls-Alden and claimed a 41-20 victory.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys basketball started the season with two solid victories.
The Bulldogs hosted AGWSR on Nov. 29, defeating them, 60-31.
On Saturday, the team hosted Saint Ansgar and defeated them, 66-34.
Against AGWSR, the two teams went at each other in the first half.
“This is always a hard fought game and the start was no different this year,” coach Heath Walton said.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL wrestling started the season with a triangular at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Thursday.
The team then competed at the Dan Gable Donnybrook Tournament on Friday and Saturday, featuring 33 schools.
The Bulldogs defeated Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 39-30, and Iowa Falls-Alden, 48-33.
113-pounder Jack Showaalter recorded his 100th win at the meet.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s Tate Schmitt was named to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and the Iowa Football Coaches Association announced All-State football teams.
The senior was placed onto the Class 3A third-team list as a receiver/tight end.
Schmitt had 43 receptions for 680 yards.
He scored 11 touchdowns; his longest going for 91 yards.
Schmitt averaged 68 yards per game and averaged 15.8 yards per catch.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL cross country teams completed another season with a full boys team and only five girls on the roster.
Coach Traci Moorehead felt her runners all competed well individually.
The boys team showed well in meets throughout the season.
“We were able to compete individually as well as in the top 1/2 of most meets with a successful team score,” Moorehead said.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL football finished the season .500.
It was a hard fought season for the Bulldogs, who aimed to focus on the smaller details.
Coach Cole Miller said that his coaching staff work to build up young men, as well as good players.
“This team worked their tails off all season long, and it started this summer when we were finally able to get together as a team to begin football workouts,” he said.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL cross country was represented by Lydia Maas at Class 3A in Dike-New Hartford on Friday.
Maas finished in 63rd with a time of 20:51.87.
She finished the first mile with a time of 6:17.96 and the second mile in 13:11.64.
“Lydia has worked hard all season to make it to the state tournament,” coach Traci Moorehead said. “It was a goal of hers to make it down to Fort Dodge two years in a row.”

Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball finished the year 3-25.
In a season that was hopeful for improvement, it ended up being a frustrating year for the Bulldogs.
“I truly feel that even though we may not have won many matches, we as a team never gave up,” coach Sara Miller said.
The team leaned on three seniors this year.
Addyson Showalter, Kortney Dunt and Aja Sheppard.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL football met the end of their season on Friday in the first round of Class 3A.
The Bulldogs took on undefeated Humboldt, ranked second in the RPI, on the road.
The game ended in a loss, 6-46.
The Wildcats caught an early lead, scoring 14 points in the first quarter.
By halftime, the game was 0-21.
Humboldt put the dagger in with an additional 19 points.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball had their season end on Oct. 18 in the Class 3A Regional at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.
The Bulldogs were defeated 0-3; 14-25, 13-25 and 9-25.
“We knew going into the game Monday night we needed to be consistent throughout the entire set,” coach Sara Miller said. “We have been struggling this season to play consistently for the entire set and unfortunately for us that is what happened.”

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys and girls track team ran at Decorah for the Class 3A State Qualifying meet on Wednesday.
Sophomore Lydia Maas qualified for state with a seventh place finish.
She finished in 20:08.90.
“It was a great night to run,” coach Traci Moorehead said. “All the kids ran well. Looking forward to watching [Maas] run for a second time at state in Fort Dodge.”

The penultimate regular season outing for the Lady Bulldogs saw Hampton-Dumont-CAL take on quad action at Lake Mills before coming back home to finish for the regular season with senior night and a hosting of Clear Lake.
For the week’s opener, Hampton-Dumon-CAL went 0-3 for the day with opponents varying from Lake Mills to Nashua-Plainfield to North Butler.
Thursday brought an end to the regular season for the Lady Bulldogs.
