Bulldog Boys Soccer Starts Season Strong, Girls Continue Growth

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer program has been trending up the past few seasons.  The girls program is starting to see a lot of growth as girls find their way to the field in the spring.  The boys program under Coach Danielle Arana has made huge strides and has raised the level of expectations each and every season.  The boys are living up to those expectations at the beginning of the 2023 season by starting out red hot.

H-D-CAL Boys and Girls Track Kick Season off at Indoor Meets

The snow is starting to finally melt, and the weather is starting to warm up which heralds also the spring sports season for high school athletes.  The Bulldog boys and girls track teams opened up their season with two indoor meets in one week.  First up the boys and girls competed at the Wartburg Indoor Co-Ed Invitational on Tuesday, March 21.  The girls then traveled to Clear Lake for the North Iowa Girls Indoor Championships in the new rec

Boys and Girls Soccer Begin Season

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog soccer teams began its season this past week with a trip to Clear Lake and then hosting Belmond-Klemme.  The H-D-CAL girls soccer team is coached by first year head coach Ben Schlachter and the boys are coached by Danielle Arana.  The girls look to continue to make improvements from last season and the boys will look to continue their success with some postseason aspirations.

Three finalists from each of the three state wrestling classes for the men and three women finalists attended an awards luncheon banquet today at the Fareway Conference Center in Boone.
 

Remsen-St. Marys ousts West Fork in State Tournament opener

DES MOINES — No. 4 seeded Remsen St. Marys scored five straight points to open the game and never trailed in a 54-41 victory over No. 5 West Fork in the first round of the Class 1A Girls’ State Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena Wednesday.

Girls Basketball All-Conference Teams

The North Central Conference announced its all-conference teams this past week, with Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s Brooklyn and Jordan Valley each earned third-team honors. 

Bulldog Boys Basketball Finish Season

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys basketball team saw ups and downs during its 2022-23 season. It took ranked teams to overtime and played competitively with others. The team has also played in some games that it would probably like to have back. The boys have shown growth and had a couple chances against a good Clear Lake team to show the growth they have made during the season.

Strother places sixth at AAU state wrestling

DES MOINES - Hampton-Dumont/CAL’s Madox Strother placed sixth in his division of the AAU State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena. 
Strother, wrestling for the Team Valley Wrestling Club, was sixth at 70 pounds in Division B. He advanced to Sunday’s semifinals by going 3-0 Saturday with all of his wins by fall.

Warhawk Girls Basketball

The No. 5 ranked West Fork girls’ basketball team punched its ticket to the State Tournament last week with a 56-37 victory over Maquoketa Valley in the Class 1A, Region 6 Championship.

Bulldog Wrestlers Battle Down at State Wrestling

The Iowa High School state wrestling tournament has undergone some changes this season including eliminating the sectional portion of the tournament, adding eight competitors and going back to a four-day tournament format. The Bulldogs qualified four wrestlers for the tournament, and Coach Hansen had high expectations for them.

Bulldogs Advance Four To State!

Wrestling fans may have a little bit of a different feeling this season with the Iowa High School Athletic Association changing the postseason format by removing the sectional tournament and advancing all wrestlers straight to districts.  The IHSAA also added eight wrestlers to the state tournament and are returning to a four day format for the competition.  Coach Hansen made the joke that for the first time in H-D-CAL history, all 14 Bulldog

Bulldog Boys Look to Finish Season Strong

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog boys basketball team has been very competitive throughout their tough NCC schedule.  A conference that features three ranked class 3A teams makes it tough to win conference games.  The Bulldogs have maintained a competitive nature even though it is not showing up in the win column.

Bulldog Girls Season Ends in First Round Playoff Loss

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog girls basketball team wrapped up their regular season against the Saint Edmond Gaels and then got busy preparing for the postseason matchup with the top seeded Osage Green Devils.  The girls team has been through a tough season dealing with injuries, weather complications, and the normal rigors of a high school basketball season, but they have continued to persevere through the trials and tribulations.
