SHEFFIELD—- The West Fork and Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls wrestling team won their dual meet against BCLUW/SH 30-24 on Dec. 5 during the team’s Senior Night. Head coach Onni Prestidge said it was the first team win in the team’s history. The team also went up against North Central but fell to North Central 42-30.
 

SHEFFIELD—- The West Fork boys kept the winning streak going as they defeated Newman Catholic 76-57 on Dec. 8. to move to 3-0 on the year. 
 
The offense was key for the Warhawks as they led 18-13 after the first quarter and outscored Newman Catholic 25-11 in the second quarter to make it 43-24 at the half. The Warhawks then outscored Newman Catholic 18-10 in the third quarter but were outscored 23-15 in the final quarter.

CLEAR LAKE—- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls basketball team lost a close game to Clear Lake 43-36 on Dec. 8. The team is now 1-5 on the year.
 
It was a defensive first half as Clear Lake led 8-5 after the first quarter and 17-16 at halftime after the Bulldogs outscored Clear Lake 11-9 in the second quarter.
 

The West Fork Warhawks boys wrestling team has dealt with some growing pains during their first two meets so far this year. The team had their first meet at Saint Ansgar on Nov. 30. And the team was at the Chris Davis JV Invitational on Dec. 2. Where the team finished in 16th place out of 16 teams.
 

BELMOND—— The Hampton-Dumont-Cal Bulldogs football team had a strong showing at the team’s scrimmage against the Belmond-Klemme Broncos on Aug.18. 
Head coach Cole Miller said that one thing he liked from the scrimmage was how plenty of players were able to get some reps on both sides of the ball for the Bulldogs. 

Last year, The Hampton-Dumont-Cal Bulldogs football team found success as they went 6-4 on the season.
This season the Bulldogs are looking to keep that success going. Head coach Cole Miller said that the expectation for the team is that the Bulldogs compete in every game.

Hampton Youth Soccer leagues are getting ready for the start of the 2023 season. All three leagues will start games on August 26. Joslyn Stock, the board president of Hampton Youth Soccer said that this year the leagues have 304 players. 

With the season approaching, the Hampton-Dumont-Cal cross country teams are excited about the numbers of runners they have so far according to head coach Traci Moorehead.

The West Fork Warhawks girls cross country team is looking forward to the upcoming season. This year will be the first time the team will be able to compete as a team under head coach Laura Huber. Huber said that last year the Warhawks only had four runners, but this season the team has five runners right now.

The West Fork Warhawks boys cross country team has seen an increase in the number of runners heading into this season as they get ready for the upcoming season.
Head coach Zachary Ortloff said that a goal for the team is to place better at meets.

The Hampton-Dumont-Cal Bulldogs softball team went through some ups and downs during this past season according to head coach Kelsey Enslin. The Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 8-17 and won their Class 3A region 5 quarterfinal game against Garner Hayfield Ventura 5-3, before losing to Williamsburg 10-0 in the Class 3A region 5 semifinal.

The West Fork Warhawks baseball team saw some improvement this season when compared to last year, as the Warhawks went from two wins last year, to finish this season with five wins. West Fork finished the season with a record of 5-17 and while it was still a tough season, Warhawks’ head coach Kayden Ames said that he thinks the team is going to take away a lot from this year.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs faced off with a familiar foe in the first round of the district playoffs, going up against conference rival, Webster City Lynx in Hampton.  The Bulldogs and Lynx had split the regular season series 1-1, with both teams earning a win as the home team and the Bulldogs earning themselves the fourth seed in the class 3A district 2.  The Bulldogs entered the game with a 15-14 record and the Lynx at 15-15.  Both team

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog softball team hosted a first round playoff game for the second year in a row.  The Bulldogs entered the game with a 7-16 record and faced the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals with a 6-17 record.  The Bulldogs would earn the 4th seed in the class 3A regional 5 bracket.  

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog baseball team has been playing tough baseball ever since the middle of June.  The Bulldogs have navigated through an arduous NCC schedule and a challenging non-conference schedule in a year that some viewed as a rebuilding one.  So, the final week of the season shaped up to be the Bulldogs toughest.
