HAMPTON—- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys soccer team improved to 7-6 on the year after defeating the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals 2-1 at home on May 6. The Bulldogs had 58 shots, including 35 shots on goal. It looked like the game was going to be scoreless going into halftime as the Bulldogs had a couple of chances throughout the first half to take the lead but a couple of shots went off the goal post.
 

Last year the Hampton-Dumont-CAL bulldogs baseball team finished the season exactly at .500 with a record of 15-15. This year head coach Matt Lokenvitz said that this year just like every other year the team has a goal set to win 20 games this season. Another goalie to get to the top half of the conference and compete to a district championship.
 

It has been 50 years since the Sheffield-Chapin boys basketball team made it to the state tournament and that season continues to be a fond memory for those involved in the team. Sheffield-Chapin went 25-1 under head coach Jim Cuvelier that year with the one loss coming at the hands of Orange City Unity Christian 62-58 in the quarterfinals. Orange City Unity Christian went on to win the Class A state championship.

The season has been a rebuilding one for the West Fork Warhawks girls golf team as the team is heading into the Class 1A-Region 3B meet at Ridge Stone Golf Club on May 10. Head coach Abbie Emhoff said that the team had to deal with some adversity as they lost their No. 1 golfer, Katelyn Witte for the season due to a shoulder injury. 
 
“We hope for a strong return next year,” Emhoff said.
 

Hampton-Dumont-CAL:
April 29. Boys tennis lost to Iowa Falls-Alden 9-0. In singles, Coleman Condon lost 10-4, Andyn White lost 10-10 (7-3), Dominic Nicholson lost 10-0, Alexis Sosa lost 10-2, Kooper Tranel lost 10-2, and Nicholas Quasdorf lost 10-0. In doubles, the team of White and Condon lost 10-8, the team of Sosa and Nicholson lost 10-3, and the team of Quasdorf and Tranel lost 10-6.

HAMPTON—- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls track and field team took fourth place out of eight teams at the North Central Conference meet on May 2 with a score of 79.5 points. In the 100-meter dash, Abby Drier took seventh place with a time of 13.77. In the 200-meter dash, Lily Hambly took sixth place with a time of 28.50. In the 4x100-meter relay, the Bulldogs took fifth place with a time of 58.24.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls tennis team took sixth place out of six teams at the North Central Conference meet at Dodger Tennis Courts on May 1. In singles, MaryJane Jensen lost both matches by the score of 8-1 and Mattelyn McGuire lost her first match 8-1 and her second match 8-0.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys and girls team sent athletes to the 114th Drake Relays that ran from April 25- April 27. On the girls side Charlee Morton took first place in the shot put with a throw of 41-04.00. Morton also took first place in the discus with a throw of 141-02. It was the second year in a row for Morton to take first place in the events at the relays.

With the season around the halfway mark, the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls golf team head coach Dustin Moorehead has said the season has been a positive one so far. The Bulldogs are 4-3 on the season.
 

Following a run to the state championships which saw the West Fork Warhawks boys golf team take second place in the Class 1A State Championship, the boys team is getting ready for another run as the Warhawks took first place out of three teams at their first meet of the year with a score of 171 on April 4.

While the weather might not be cooperating but that has not stopped the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls golf team from getting ready for the upcoming season. Head coach Dustin Moorehead said that one of the goals for the team is to improve from last year. Moorehead also said that another goal is to not be so stressful on the course and to limit three puts. 
 

HAMPTON—-- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls track and field team had a strong showing at their home meet during the Lady Bulldogs Invite on April 4. The Bulldogs took fourth place out of 16 teams with a score of 68 points. In the 100-meter dash, Abby Drier took fifth place with a time of 13.51 and Aubryee Showalter took 11th place with a time of 13.93.

After a strong showing last year that ended in a loss to Webster City in the Class 2A Substate 2 championship game. The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys soccer team has its eyes set on repeating that success. The Bulldogs went 11-6 last year and heading into this season head coach Danielle Arana said that when it comes to the returning players this season that while they had playing time that some of the returning players were not starters.

With the season under way for the Hampton Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls tennis team co head coaches Chad Johnson and Staci Johnson said that their goals for the team is to get better throughout the season and to have fun.
 
“I think we saw it in the first week of practice,” Chad said. “I also think that through the game we had on Thursday night that in each set I saw some improvement.” 
 

HAMPTON—- The season did not start the way they would have liked for the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls soccer team. The team fell to the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets 10-0 at home on March 28.
