The Hampton-Dumont Community School Board is considering budget cuts for the upcoming fiscal year. On Friday, March 11, the board held a special meeting where Superintendent Todd Lettow advised making a $700,000 reduction to the 2022-23 budget in order to compensate for rising inflation.
This budget cut will be in addition to $1.6 million in cuts that the district has been anticipating as COVID funding expires.

Brolsma has lived in Hampton for 18 years and recently retired after working for Monsanto as a District Sales Manager. He is now working part-time for Freese Trucking.
Brolsma served 8 years on the Hampton-Dumont Board of Education.

The H-D/CAL ProStart team made a big impression at the ProStart Invitational contest in Des Moines on Tuesday, March 1.
The culinary club spent months practicing and preparing for the contest where teams of students from across the state showed off their cooking ability and restaurant management ideas.
"It was a great day," said Jane Hoegh, who teaches the ProStart group.

One of the primary purposes of the ordinance is to protect rural residents from the noise that wind turbines produce. The ordinance sets a limit of 45 decibels for wind turbines and established protocols for measuring that level.
