One Middle School Student Tests out of Spanish 1 through 4 for HS

Perla Martinez, of Hampton, was the only Hampton-Dumont middle school student to test out of Spanish 1 through 4 for high school. 

Martinez, who translates for her parents on a regular basis, said this was the highlight of her middle school experience, and that she was given the good news within an hour of taking the test. She said she took one year of Spanish in middle school, and that it was easy. 

“The test was pretty easy for me,” she said. “It was confusing to me when I saw that other people found it so challenging.” 

Martinez will be a freshman next year, and she’s most excited about taking art classes, she said. Her dream: to become an artist someday. She’s interested in drawing, painting and sculpting. 

Her mother is Sandra Gonzalez and her father is Jose Martinez.Martinez, who lives in Hampton with her parents, will receive eight credits for the classes she tested out of. 

Every year, HD middle school students attempt to test out of Spanish classes for high school, and every year, one or more students are successful.
