MacKenzy Valley Earns All Conference Honors in Conference Meet

ALGONA - Bulldogs sophomore MacKenzyy Valley earned All-Conference honors after finishing tenth place in the North Central Conference meet with a time of 21 minutes, 43.11 seconds on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Valley explained what this accomplishment means to her.

"Earning All-Conference and finishing in the top ten is really special to me," Valley said. "It shows how much I've improved since last season and that all the work I have put in both during the season and in the off-season has paid off."

Valley was one of four girls who ran for Hampton-Dumont-CAL, so the girls did not qualify for a team score. The boys team finished in eighth place out of eight qualified teams with a total score of 195 points.       

The other girls that ran in the meet were: junior Marlee Maas, who finished in 43rd place overall with a time of 25 minutes, 33.75 seconds, sophomore Adelee Gronewold, who finished in 47th place overall with a time of 26 minutes, 23.45 seconds and sophomore Keely Moorehead, who finished in 49th place overall with a time of 27 minutes, 38.27 seconds.

For the boys team, sophomore William Vosburg finished in 27th place overall and posted a score of 27 points with a time of 19 minutes, 20.11 seconds. Senior Arnold Guevara finished in 36th place overall and posted a score of 36 points with a time of 19 minutes, 33.42 seconds. Junior Conner Miller finished in 41st place overall and posted a score of 41 points with a time of  20 minutes, 3.73 seconds. Senior Reed Masters finished in 42nd place overall and posted a score of 42 points with a time of 20 minutes, 4.96 seconds. Sophomore Max Koftoot finished in 49th place and posted a score of 49 points with a time of 21 minutes, 5.81 seconds.  

The Bulldogs cross country teams will next run in the state qualifying meet at the Iowa State Cross Country Course on Wednesday, October 22 at 4 p.m. Head coach of the Bulldos cross country teams Traci Moorhead said the runners are prepared for the state qualifying meet.

"We have prepared all year for this race," Moorhead said. "It is my hope that we will come out and run our very best that day.You can only control your own running time."
