Latham Seeds Plant Manager Retires after 50 Years

After fifty years with Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, Plant Manager Greg Jaacks is ready for retirement.
On Thursday night, Oct. 30, he celebrated his accomplishments and hard work with his coworkers and community at their headquarters in Alexander. The company hosted a farewell party for him that evening.
When asked what he'll miss the most, he said "the work."
"I enjoyed getting everybody where they needed to be and keeping the plant going," he said. "I really enjoyed having something to do. But I won't miss driving to work on those cold, snowy mornings."
Jaacks served as the plant manager for 27 years, taking over for his father, who held the role for 42 years.
"This place means a lot to me. It's hard to describe it because it's been a lifetime," Jaacks said. "It's been my life. And sometimes it's hard to believe it's been 50 years already. But it's time."
Jaacks and his wife, Donna, have two daughters, Trisha and Sandy, and enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren. In retirement, he looks forward to fishing, riding his Harley, attending sporting events and enjoying more time with family.
