H-D-CAL Volleyball Drops Conference Match to Webster City

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball team lost 3-0 to the Webster City Lynx on Tuesday, September 23. The Bulldogs lost the first set 25-15, the second set 25-7 and the third set 25-16. Junior Kenley Hansen led the Bulldogs with four assists and junior Addison Aalbers led the team with 19 attacks and four kills. Defensively, sophomore Bridget Brocka and Aalbers each led the Bulldogs with one block, while Aalbers also led the team with nine digs. Despite the loss, Bulldogs' head coach Sarah Miller has been proud of the way her team has competed in their matches this season.
"The girls never back down," Miller said. "They keep competing, and their competitiveness and willingness to push each other has been a real strength."
The loss drops the Bulldogs' record to 3-7 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. The Bulldogs played in the Norseman Invitational Tournament at Roland-Story High School on Monday, September 29, and played at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Tuesday, September 30. The Bulldogs next match is when they host Clear Lake on Thursday, October 2 at 7 p.m.
