Cabe Warwick's Award-Winning Project Shown at Windsor Theatre

On Friday, a special showing was held at the Windsor Theatre for Cabe Warwick, whose movie review was recently recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The 18-year-old, who's currently attending Central College in Pella, submitted a passion project from his high school days into the Regional Student Production Awards competition, which is held by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. His submission: a humorous twenty-minute long movie review on Disney's "Incredibles." For it, he interviewed three different versions of himself: a cowboy, an English man and an American.

After the showing at the theatre, Warwick told the Chronicle that it had taken him over three months to complete it with help from family and friends. He believed that the hardest part was the editing process. He had chosen to do a review on the Incredibles, because he felt that "it could have a lighter comedic tone in comparison to the darker movies others had chosen."

“I would be able to deconstruct deeper themes," he said.

Last spring, Warwick won the regional award in the Upper Midwest for the Interview and Discussion category while at the regional awards ceremony in Minnesota, sending him to nationals. He was the second student in Des Moines school history to make it to nationals.

His mother said they wanted to honor his hard work, which is why they decided to hold a special ceremony at the theatre, complete with a red carpet and photo booth.

Although he hadn’t won, he plans to continue with his schooling and creative pursuits.

After college, he would like to pursue something that involves narrative storytelling, such as directing.
