Bulldogs Boys Strong Offensive Attack Leads To Impressive WIn Over Iowa Falls-Aiden

HAMPTON —The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys soccer team won their first home game in impressive fashion with a 6-0 win over Iowa Falls-Alden. 

The scoring started early and often, when sophomore Jesus Flores struck the back of the net for his first career goal just five minutes into the game. Flores spoke on how important it was to get the lead early. 

“That goal got us up on the board and it was the first goal of my high school career,” Flores said. “Once we scored that goal we knew we had more coming.” 

Flores would add an assist on the Bulldogs second goal later in the half, after crossing the ball to sophomore Christain Savala who would connect for his first goal of the season. 

The Bulldogs offense would continue to pour it on in the second half adding on four more goals, one each from seniors Gabriel Munguia and Brandon Garcia, and a pair of goals from one of the teams captains senior Fernando Mota. The Bulldogs dominated possession for most of the game and head coach Danielle Arana discussed how that was an intentional focus for the match.

 “We had a little bit of struggles with that pressure during our game on Monday so we really worked on it the last two days,” Arana said. “We really talked about it and we knew that we could come out here ten times better. Our goal was to pressure as much as we can and see where it gets us.” 

Senior goal keeper Jose Aragon-Mendez had a perfect night defending the net, saving all eight shot attempts. Backup keeper sophomore Joseph Cruz relieved Aragon-Mendez late in the second half, and collected three saves himself without letting a goal. 

The Bulldogs will look to avenge their loss to Belmond-Klemme when they host the Broncos at the Hampton-Dumont High School soccer field on Monday April 7th at 5:30 p.m..
