West Fork conducts graduation ceremony

Members of the West Fork High School Class of 2020 were honored at Sunday’s graduation ceremony at the high school football field.
School Superintendent Mike Kruger welcomed those in attendance and offered his congratulations to the class members.
High School Principal Bobby Willms commended the class members for their hard work and dedication, particularly during their senior year,
“Perseverance is something you will remember for a long time. I see greatness in all of your faces,” she said.
Among the special award winners recognized by Willms were the following:
• Achieving a grade point average of 3.6 or higher — Emily Caspers, Ty Eberling, Caleb Jones, Ian Latham, Kylie Laudner, Alison Rice, Sidney Schaefer, McKensie Shupe, Mariah Steenhard, Brayden Vold and Collin Witte
• Superintendent Academic Award (achieving the top four ACT scores): Alison Rice, Mariah Steenhard, Brayden Vold and Collin Witte
Also recognized were senior class members of the National Honor Society.
The three featured speakers for the program were Ian Latham, Sidney Schaefer and Collin Witte.
Latham focused on some of the highlights that his class achieved during high school.
He characterized the senior year as one of “many highlights and some disappointments. I am proud to say that the Class of 2020 was able to find a way to overcome the negatives.”
Schaefer, the next speaker, said the “Class of 2020 is special. In spite of the adjustments we had to make, we made it work and made the best of what we had.
“The memories we created were beyond irreplaceable,” she concluded.
Witte closed out the speakers with this meaningful thought. “Let us not waste a moment feeling sorry for ourselves. It is up to us to create our future.”
Concluding the ceremony was the awarding of diplomas to class members by Board of Education Vice President Roger Witte and Superintendent Kruger.
