Jordon Hansen is a great conversationalist. Booming voice. Clear, concise cadence. And straight to the point. All of which makes him a talented auctioneer.

The Latimer resident recently took home several trophies from the 2026 Iowa Auctioneers Association Convention in Des Moines, including first for the team auctioneer/ringman contest, which he competed in with Dylan Kallemeyn. Together, the two wowed the judges, as Hansen made his way around the room, talking with buyers and sellers and relaying information back to Kallemeyn, who engaged the audience with a steady stream of bids.

“The team competition is all about how the auctioneer and ringman work together,” he said. During the state convention, Hansen also received an advertising award for best personal property marketing and second place for the team category with JJ Wise. Most notably, he was named as the Vice President of the Association while there.

Hansen joked that he enjoys competing so much that someone told him to calm down and he told them that he simply couldn't, as he was having too much fun.

Hansen has been passionate about his work since the day he started. While he's been working for auction companies since 2006, he finally made the plunge and attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering in 2019 to further his education and expertise in the field.

Then, in August of 2020, he launched his own business, Hansen Auction Service, which provides services for every aspect of the auction process, including setup, cataloging, load-out and shipping.

"Conveniently located just of I35 by Latimer in Franklin County, Iowa, we serve not only our local community but also offer onsite auctions throughout Northern Iowa and neighboring states," their website states.

Hansen has earned a number of accolades over the years. In February of 2022, he was named the Iowa State Ringperson Champion at the Iowa Auctioneer Association competition. Four months later, he competed in the World Automobile Auctioneers Championship, finishing in eighth place.

Hansen has also served in leadership roles in his field. He was elected to the Board of Directors for the Iowa Auctioneers Association for a one-year term in February of 2023 and then re-elected for a two-year term in January of 2024.

Hansen, who lives just north of Latimer with his wife and three children, stays busy with his auctioneering business, along with his full-time job as a DNR game warden for Franklin County.
