'Crazy Tupperware Lady' Makes Special Deliveries

Michelle Hartman, aka the “Crazy Tupperware Lady,” made a special delivery to local food pantries last week.

After raising enough money through her annual “Share a Smile” campaign, she was able to purchase 150 mugs, which she filled with cans of soup and crackers.

With help from family and friends, she delivered them to the following locations over the course of several days: The West Fork Food Pantry, West Fork schools in Sheffield and Rockwell, the Franklin County Food Pantry, La Luz Centro Cultural, the Clear Lake/Ventura Food Pantry and three Clear Lake Little Free Pantries.

Hartman has been giving back to the community through her “Share a Smile” projects since 2021.

"I started these projects in partnership with the community in 2021 with SOUP-er Mugs for teachers and since then, I have done several projects like it each year at nursing homes, assisted living centers, hospitals, food pantries, schools and more," she said. "While providing a sweet treat or food with a Tupperware product, it becomes more of a simple gift to make others smile!"

When asked why she does this, Hartman said it's a great way to spread kindness.

“Kindness is contagious and the world needs more kindness so why not start right here in North Iowa?” she said. "I am blessed with amazing followers on Facebook that come together when I present a project with donations to help make these possible. I love being able to put them together with helpers and get them delivered! I already have ideas for my next Share a Smile Project!"

Hartman said she's even learned a thing or two about the area through these campaigns.

"One thing I have learned during these deliveries about the food pantries in our area is how important they are to our communities," she said. "Dozens of local volunteers make food pantries run with ease and we should be very proud of the work they do in our communities!"
