Transportation Director Gears up for School Year

Hampton-Dumont Transportation Director Dan Schipper has a big job. With help from his team, he's responsible for shuttling around 700 children every day during the school year.

 

Schipper, who's been in his role for the last eight years, oversees a team of seven full-time bus drivers, along with five part-timers. They handle morning and afternoon pickups, as well as taking student athletes to games, staff to conferences and classes to field trips. If a ride is needed, Schipper's team is on it.

Schipper, who was born and raised in Hampton, handles everything from schedules to bus maintenance. And his top priority will always remain the same: everyone's safety.

"The biggest challenge would be all of the moving pieces," he told the Chronicle. "But I love working with the staff. I love this job."
