ACKLEY – Hannah Homeyer was the medalist runner-up in leading AGWSR to a runner-up finish at its own triangular at Ackley Rec Club on Tuesday, April 13.
High winds and cold marked the meet that had some area schools cancel otherwise.
Homeyer carded a 47, one shot back of IF-A’s Rana James as the Cadets won the meet with 202. The Cougars shot 220 as a team.
“The girls battled the cold and wind tonight more than anything,” coach Stacy Drake said. “Swinging in three or four extra layers adds another level to this game. They ended up only three strokes higher than the last week week even with extra difficulties.
“They all had some very bright spots throughout their round and also let the wind get to them every so often. Hannah had her lowest round in competition yet and ended up runner-up medalist.”
South Hardin brought up the rear, shooting 231.
Rounding out team scoring for coach Drake’s team were Alayna Hunt (50), Natalie Gerstein (61) and Brianna Kruger (62).
“Alayna and Kylie even were able to sneak a couple pars in their round,” Drake said. “It was a learning night and the girls are ready to play next week (hopefully in some warmer weather).”
