Franklin County Convention Center Grand Re-Opening
The Franklin County Fair Board is proud to announce the Grand Re- Opening of the Convention Center with an Open House Gala on March 20th. This is a free event, and all are welcome to tour and enjoy light refreshments and an exciting drawing. The Open House Gala is taking the place of the annual Dinner Dance.
Currently, the exterior is 80% complete and the inside framing is 100% complete with a good portion of sheet rock process complete. Jon Baltes, Franklin County Fair Board President, is excited to showcase the updates. “We want everyone in the community to come out and see firsthand how fabulous the renovated Convention Center looks. We look forward to offering the Convention Center as a premier venue for a variety of events.
Donations and grant funds are supporting the project. To date, total dollars collected and pledges bring the fundraising to over $1.1M. “We’ve had a few additional expenses, but with the demolition complete, most surprises have been uncovered. We are very happy where we are to date, with both the project and the fundraising,” commented Carol Lowery, Fundraising Co-Chair. “Folks have been great about filling their pledges over the last three years, and we continue to get a few additional cash donations. We really appreciate the support of all the businesses and community, but we need to keep working to fill the gap.”
Donations may be sent to the Franklin County Fair Foundation, PO BOX 442, Hampton, Iowa 50441, noting donation to Convention Center Renovation. For hours of operation of the temporary Fair Office, please check the website at www.franklincountyfair.com.
