Warhawks Place Tenth in State Qualifying Meet

LAKE MILLS - The West Fork boys wrestling season has come to an end after the Warhawks placed 10th out of 10 teams in the IHSAA 1A District 4 Boys Wrestling State Qualifying Meet with a team score of 22. Head coach of the Warhawks Keaton Wilson spoke on what he will take away from this year's team.
"I will remember that this was a strong group of guys that collectively were working together to be better individually," Wilson said. "I'll remember the highs and lows of the season. Our season started to turn when we went 2-1 in duals at North union, defeating North Union and Newman Catholic. The resiliency the guys had was great."
Sophomore Jensen Robbins placed the highest and scored the most team points of any Warhawk. Robbins placed third in the 215 pound class and scored 16 team points. Robbins defeated Northwood-Kensett's Aydan Schutz by fall at 4:28 in the quarterfinal before falling to Lake Mills' Josiah Kjeldahl in the semifinal. Robbins then defeated Emmetsburg's Braylen King by fall at 5:28 in the consolation semifinal and Aydan Shutz again by fall at 2:25 in the third place match before falling to Saint Ansgar's Brody Dolph in the second place match. Coach Wislson spoke on Robbins success throughout the season.
"The level of improvement that Jensen had from last season to this season was huge," he said. "If he continues on that path he is on for next year, I will again expect huge things and his record to improve once again."
As the 2025-26 season comes to an end, coach Wilson discussed the improvement of the program.
"The program took a huge leap this year," he said. "We had 14 kids out this year; last year we had seven. I look for our numbers to continue to grow. We won five duals this year which was huge for us. We want to get closer to the 10 dual wins next year. The guys know they will need to put off season work in the weight room and on the mat and I expect them to do that."
