SHEFFILED - The West Fork girls basketball team defeated the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs by a score of 48-35 in the Coaches versus Cancer girls basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Warhawks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as they outscored the Bulldogs 16-4 in the first quarter and 10-6 in the second quarter, to take a 26-10 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs would fight back, winning the third period 12-6, but it was too little too late as the Warhawks finished the game with a 16-13 fourth quarter run. The Warhawks have now won three games in a row and four of their last five games. Head coach of the Warhawks girls team Rodney Huber gave credit to the improvement of his younger players as too why the Warhakws are playing their best stretch of basketball.

"I think part of the streak is based on our younger players getting comfortable playing varisty basketball and the improvement they have shown," Huber said. "In addition to our older players have settled into their roles and figured out how to lead. We have changes some schemes to allow the girls to not think quite so much and play more aggressively and that is starting to pay dividends."

Sophomore Zada Huff led the Warhakws with 19 points, including knocking down three three-point shots. Junior Evelyn Hitzhusen scored 12 points, sophomore Mya Marzen scored nine points, senior Brylee Dickman scored five points, sophomore Josephine Schmidt scored two points and freshman Adayr Wiseman scored one point.

Sophomore MaKenzy Valley led the Bulldogs with 19 points. Sophomore Birdget Brocka scored six points, junior Madison Heilskov scored five points, freshman Aliyah Swieter scored three points and junior Addison Aalbers scored two points.
