DES MOINES - The three Bulldogs that qualified for the boys state wrestling meet all went 2-2 in their matches. Sophomore Luke Showalter, senior Brody Strother and senior Maddon Evans each went 2-2 in their respective weight classes in the IHSAA Boys State Wrestling Meet at the Casey's Center in Des Moines last weekend. Head coach of the Bulldogs' boys wrestling team Colin Muller is proud of how those three boys performed at state.

"I am extremely proud of our state qualifiers," Muller said. "They were all able to get down to state, compete and win some matches. That alone says a lot about the work they put in. Their work ethic and drive to get better has been consistent all year long."

Brody Strother defeated Eagle Grove's Hunter Waldo Marinez by fall at 4:15 in the 1st round before falling in the second round. Strother then beat Dike New-Hartford's Conner Weedman by fall at 1:51 before falling in the fourth round. Strother scored 7.0 team points.

Luke Showalter defeated Centerville's Karver Hart by fall at 1:35 in the first round before falling in the second round. Showalter then defeated Clarion-Goldfield-Dows' Ryan Hartwig by decision (7-5) in the third round before falling in the fourth round. Showalter scored 5.0 team points.

Maddon Evans lost in the first round before receiving a bye in the consolation first round. Evans then defeated Centerville's Jason Marrow by fall at 3:49 in the consolation second round and Cardinal Community's Blake Lamansky by technical fall (22-5) at 3:52 in the consolation third round before falling in the consolation fourth round. Evans scored 6.5 team points.

While Evand and Strother have wrestled in their last competition for the Bulldogs, Showalter will return for his junior season and look to qaulify for state for the third time.
