Sherry Lynn (Tripkosh) Lutgen

Sherry Lynn (Tripkosh) Lutgen, age 77 of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Baptist Floyd Hospital, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life. Born to the late Vernon Charles and Arlene Loie (Tweeten) Tripkosh, Sherry lived a life defined by warmth, kindness, and genuine connection. She spent many years as a waitress at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Wausau, Wisconsin, where her bright smile and welcoming spirit made everyone feel right at home. Sherry’s regular customers quickly became friends, drawn to her easy laughter and caring heart.

As a movie lover, Sherry delighted in watching her favorite films, especially Pearl Harbor and Legends of the Fall. She treasured sharing a good meal with her family, laughing around the table, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures, like a cold Dr. Pepper. Late nights often found her playing 500 with her friends or video poker with her husband into the wee hours of the morning, content and carefree.  Sherry also liked to go shopping.  She didn’t buy much, but enjoyed getting out and seeing all of the new items.  Hallmark stores were her favorite.  She had a keen eye for finding the most meaningful collectibles for herself and others.  The beach held a special place in Sherry’s heart. She loved feeling the warmth of the sun on her face and listening to the soothing rhythm of the waves. Some of her most cherished memories were made during trips to San Diego to visit her son, where she enjoyed sightseeing, time together, and the beautiful weather she adored.

Above all else, Sherry delighted in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was their biggest fan, proudly attending basketball games, cheer competitions, graduations, and milestones.   Her love for them and pride in them was boundless, and her encouragement unwavering.  In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Vic Leutwyler.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her husband of 56 years, Mark Lutgen; daughter, Amy DeWitt (Brian); son, Wade Lutgen (Emese Gaal); sister, Sue Leutwyler; brother, Steve Tripkosh; and her beloved grandchildren, Kendall, Brielle, and Maddox.

Sherry’s kindness, laughter, and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Sherry will be cremated according to her wishes. Arrangements are entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
