Ruth M. Cuvelier, 99

Ruth M. Cuvelier, 99, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Bristow.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Dumont.

Ruth was born on July 25, 1923, in Bristow, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Madge (Boylen) Truex.  She graduated from Bristow High School, in a class of three students.  Ruth was united in marriage to Harley L. Cuvelier on November 17, 1945, in Bristow.  To this union two children were born: Roxa and Hope.

Ruth was a farm wife and homemaker.  She also worked at the canning factory in Ackley for a number of years.  Ruth was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont, where she was involved with the ladies aide, was Sunday school superintendent and was also church secretary for twenty plus years. 

Ruth enjoyed crafts, gardening, canning, baking, playing cards, bowling, and cardinals.  She was part of a card club, a bowling league, and a craft club called A and K.  Most important to Ruth was her family, which she loved dearly.  Recently, Ruth was honored to be Grand Marshal for Dumont Days; that was a proud and humbling day for her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Roxi Lee Clarke of Dumont; granddaughter, Jenna Leigh Guidie; grandson, Martin Julian Guidie; son-in-law, Norm Guidie; sisters-in-law, Donna Sokolik, Dorothy Harmon, Carol Koenen and Deloros Cuvelier; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Madge; husband, Harley; daughter, Hope; brothers, Lester and Albert.
