Roger G. Nuehring

Roger G. Nuehring, 80, of Hampton passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly.
Funeral services for Roger will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Roger and his family.
Roger Gene was born January 17, 1945 to Alvin and Estella (Palmer) Nuehring. He graduated high school from Rockwell-Swaledale with the class of 1963. On September 3, 1976, he was united in marriage with Joanne (Young) at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He worked as a hog buyer at Smithfield Foods in Mason City, and in retirement, he enjoyed playing cards and traveling, especially to Branson. He and Joanne had bags packed and ready so they could take spontaneous trips at a moment’s notice. In between travels, Roger spent his time junking and could often be seen in his pickup searching for treasures. He provided many hand tools to the Amish community that he found on his treasure hunts.
Roger’s faith was an important part of his life, and was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church. He was a hard-working, soft-spoken man who led not with words but by example.
Roger is survived by his brother Richard Nuehring; sister-in-law Diane Nuehring; nephews Tim Nuehring, Doug Nuehring, Mark Nuehring, Patrick (Jill) Nuehring and their sons Carter (Madison) Nuehring and Grant Nuehring, and Michael (Trish) Nuehring and their children Josh Hagin and Jessica (Breyer) Teaney; son-in-law Kevin Tumilson; grandchildren Andy (Sara) Boyd, Cody Boyd, Levi LaRue, Tyler Tumilson, Nicole Tomlinson, James (Fawna) Crider, Jr., and Troy (Cynthia) Crider; numerous great-grandchildren, step-brother John’s children Eric and Penny, and Karen Ingham’s children Joe Ingham, Mary Ingham, and Katy Showalter and family.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joanne, his parents, brother Gerald Nuehring, step-children Michael Stickney, Patti (Stickeny) Crider, Sandra Jo (Stickney) Boyd, Gerald Duane Stickney, and Lisa Kay (Stickney) Tumilson, great-grandson Sgt. James Matthew Crider, step-brother John Howell, and Richard’s better half Karen Ingham.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hampton United Methodist Church.
