Marian Julia Richtsmeier Johnson was born July 11, 1932, in Faulkner, Iowa to Herman and Mazie (Bowers) Richtsmeier. She was the youngest of seven children. She lived in Faulkner and went to Country School until the family moved to Hampton and started 4th grade there. She graduated with the class of 1951 and for a time worked for her brother at Richie’s Drive Inn where she met the love of her life. On November 16, 1951, Marian was united in marriage with Dale Johnson. During 1951 Marian began working for Ferris Nursery and worked for 20 years, taking a few years off to raise 2 sons, Jeffrey and Alan.

She loved camping and fishing and in her earlier year just watching nature. Baking and cooking were her favorite pastimes, especially trying new recipes on her husband. Another favorite time was going for coffee with family and friends and playing cribbage as well as class coffee once a month. Her most special times were  just being together with Dale talking and reliving old times and their nightly cribbage games. You would never see one without the other close-by until Dale’s passing of cancer July 4, 2010, where she was by his side holding his hand.

Surviving family include her son Alan (Sherry) Johnson, Jefferson, GA; grandchildren: Tiffany ( Al) Lemus, Hoschton, GA; Tyler (Sarah) Johnson, Taylors, SC; Misty Johnson, Watertown, SD; Michael Johnson, Huron, SD; Meranda Johnson, Huron, SD; KC Johnson, Huron, SD; and 5 great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, her son Jeffrey, siblings: Merna Itis, Carl Richtsmeier; Dutch Richtsmeier; Vera Claude; Jean Chaney and Baby Fern.
