Long Term Medical Supply Donates $5K to Franklin County Historical Society

The Franklin County Historical Society  received a $5,000 donation from Long Term Medical Supply on Tuesday, Dec. 23.  

Franklin County Historical Society President Jim Davies stated the generous contribution will be used to further enhance the Admiral Leahy exhibit at the Franklin County Historical Museum, located on the Franklin County Fairgrounds.  

Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy was a highly influential U.S. Navy officer, serving as the first five-star Fleet Admiral, who acted as President Roosevelt's Chief of Staff and Chairman of the

Joint Chiefs during WWII, overseeing crucial war strategy, and later continuing his service under Truman, known for his unwavering counsel and trusted, behind-the-scenes role in major Allied decisions, despite being overlooked by history.  William Daniel Leahy was born in Hampton, Iowa on May 6, 1975.   He passed away on July 20, 1959 in Bethesda, Maryland.

Long Term Medical Supply Corporation (LTMS) was established in Hampton May of 1987 as an affiliate of ABCM Corporation.  Its business is of selling Durable Medical Equipment (DME), supplies and clothing to care centers and clinics.  

LTMS has currently three retail centers, Hampton, Iowa Falls and Manchester.  115-116 2nd Ave., Hampton is the main store and billing office location. The business has contracts with approximately 90 facilities in Iowa and has 40 employees. Kathy Meyer-Allbee is the General Manager and Nicole Trebilcock is the Operations Manager.

The Franklin County Historical Society (FCHS), a 501c3 public charitable corporation, was incorporated in October 1974.  The society is organized exclusively for historical preservation and educational purposes.  More specifically, FCHS is dedicated to preserving, sharing, and honoring the history of Franklin County for present and future generations.

Besides the museum, the FCHS board of directors oversees the Harriman-Nielsen historic farm property, the REA Power Plant, and the acquisition, display, storage, preservation and disposition of machinery and other items related to the history of agricultural development and production in the Franklin County area.
