Kerri Deane Luhring

Kerri Deane Luhring, age 63, of Parkersburg, was born the daughter of Dean Carl and Ellen Lue (Catherall) Rodemeyer on August 1, 1962, in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1981. Kerri attended La James Cosmology in Mason City and Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls.

On August 17, 1984, Kerri Deane Rodemeyer was united in marriage with Rodney Lee Luhring at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. They made their home in Latimer, Iowa where they owned and operated Latimer Grocery and Gift Store. She volunteered for the West Franklin EMS and Fire Department in Latimer. Through the years she also worked at Fareway and the Liquor Barn in Hampton.

In 2012 the couple made their home in Parkersburg. She was currently employed with Johnson’s Plumbing and Heating, where they treated her like family. On September 25, 2016, Kerri accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord. She became an active member of First Congregational Church in Parkersburg. She was involved in Prayer Group and Bible Study. Kerri began her mornings reading the Bible and writing scriptures. When she discovered her illness, she became angry with God, he spoke to her and said, “I’ve got this” where she found calmness, peace and clarity. She planted seeds of faith with everyone she was in contact with.

Kerri loved to fish and was very competitive with Rod when it came to fishing. She also enjoyed gardening and canning her produce, crocheting and reading her Bible. She will be remembered for her generosity, willingness to listen, and always focused on others’ well-being first. She loved her family immensely and loved to spoil her grandchildren.

Kerri passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Ellen Rodemeyer; an infant sister, Julie; and her stepfather, Jim Olsen.
