Jacqueline Jean Campbell

Jacqueline “Jackie” Jean Campbell passed away on June 20, 2026, at the Alaska Pioneer Home in Anchorage, at the age of 91. She was a woman who kept life running on schedule, remembered every date worth remembering, and loved her family in ways that showed up in every quilt she stitched, every pie she baked, and a cookie jar that was never empty.

Jackie grew up in Geneva, Iowa, where she was a standout on the basketball court. Not long after, she married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Keith Campbell, and the two of them would go on to share 72 years of marriage — a partnership that carried them from the heartland of Iowa to the wilds of Alaska, where they made their home in Seward.

She was a steadfast member of the Seward United Methodist Church, a dedicated volunteer at the Seward Food Bank, and an active contributor to the Seward Historical Society.

Throughout her life, Jackie turned her hands to many kinds of handicrafts, but it was quilting that stayed with her the longest. She made quilts for each of her sons’ weddings and baby quilts for her grandchildren.

Raising three boys, Jackie was known for two things: order and a wooden spoon. The spoon, it should be noted, was mostly a matter of reputation — few can confirm it was ever actually used. But its mere mention had a near-miraculous effect on the grandchildren.

Jackie is survived by her beloved husband, Curtis Keith Campbell; her sisters Patty Rodemeyer of Hampton, Iowa, and Shirley Strong of Latimer, Iowa; her sons and spouses: Daniel and Teresa Campbell of Kenai, Alaska, David and Noriko Campbell of Obihiro, Japan, and Douglas and Iris Campbell of Wasilla, Alaska; and 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Baluku Augustine and his wife, Phyllis, of Las Vegas, Nevada, who came to the Campbells as a foreign exchange student and became family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Jon (O.J.) Stackhouse and Maxine Hattie Stackhouse, her youngest sister LaDonna Roelf, and great-grandchild Ollie Jak Svabik, beloved daughter of Bethany and Brian Svabik.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Seward United Methodist Church, 321 Fourth Avenue, Seward, Alaska, at 1:oo p.m.
