Hawks sink talons into Bulldogs

A road game at West Delaware brought Hampton-Dumont-CAL a loss Friday as the Bulldogs eye the final game of the regular season coming up.

A 20-0 run by the Hawks in the very first quarter was key to the West Delaware win as the Bulldogs found themselves unable to mount an effective defense.

Putting up three points in the second quarter, the Bulldogs watched as the Hawks put up seven points in that and the two subsequent quarters to make the night 41-3 in favor of West Delaware.

The Hawks have been having a stellar season with a 6-1 record and West Delaware’s most-recent win a 50-0 shellacking of West Tama.

The Bulldogs, now at 3-4, will move on coming up to face Center Point-Urbana in the season finale.

At 2-5 for the season, the Stormin Pointers will make the trek up to Hampton for the game.

Center Point-Urbana is fresh off a 6-20 loss to South Tama after seeing wins to Union Community and Vinton-Shellsburg as victories this season and losses to Benton, Mount Vernon, West Delaware and Charles City so far this season.

An extra game has been scheduled for the Storming Pointers coming up against the Independence Mustangs.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will have an extra ninth game coming up against South Tama played in Hampton, set for Oct. 22.
