The Hampton Fire Department held their annual freewill lunch on Saturday, Dec. 6.

A representative with the fire department said they were thankful for all the support that they had received from the community and that they were able to raise nearly $600, which will go towards much-needed equipment and future events.

"Despite the impending blizzard, the Hampton Fire Department had a very successful soup luncheon this past Saturday," the representative said. "Nearly 200 people braved the cold to enjoy some warm soup and homemade dessert. Thank you to the community for your continued support of our local fire station!"

The crew could be seen catching up with community members and serving up chili, chicken noodle soup, cookies and dessert bars to those who stopped by the fire station.

The fire department runs on a volunteer basis, with 26 active firefighters at the moment.
