Hampton-Dumont Welcomes New High School Principal

As the new school year begins at Hampton-Dumont High School it won’t just be the freshmen getting to know a new building. This will be the first year for new Principal Matt Trosky to serve as an administrator for the district.

Originally from Cedar Rapids, Trosky graduated from Mount Mercy University and began his career as a para-educator, working with at-risk students in Tiffin. He spent ten years working with students on social skills, coaching athletics, and mentoring the student council before deciding to take a chance at something new.

Applying for the open position at Hampton-Dumont, this is Trosky’s first job on the administrative side of things.

“I’m really excited,” said Trosky. “We have such a wonderful opportunity to grow Hampton-Dumont and the Bulldog brand.”

Trosky and his family, his wife, Katie and ten-year old son, Tysenn, moved up to Hampton in June and have enjoyed getting to know the community.

“It’s been incredible,” said Trosky, who has been especially impressed with how much area businesses and community organizations support the school.

As principal, Trosky is looking forward to doing his part to ensure the success of students in his building and make sure that his staff have the support they need. A big fan of high school athletics, he and his family will be easily identified, decked out in Bulldog apparel to support their new home team.

“My family is all in,” said Trosky. “I’m all in on being a Bulldog.”
