Gertrude W. Muhlenbruch, 95

Gertrude W. Muhlenbruch, 95, of Grimes, formerly of Hampton, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa. She was born November 18, 1924, in Hampton, to Henry and Minnie (Uilk) Muhlenbruch.

Gertrude attended school at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer. She worked at Finnell’s in Hampton in 1951, until they closed their doors. Gertrude then worked at Harrison’s from 1970 until 1985, when she and her sister, Alice, took over farming the family farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Gertrude enjoyed embroidery, jigsaw puzzles and collecting figurines, especially birds.

Gertrude is survived by her sister Karen Mann of Urbandale, niece Brenda Mann of Urbandale, niece Rita Mann of Chandler, Arizona, and great-niece Nicole Mann of Chandler, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice Muhlenbruch, sister and brother-in-law Laura and Dale Myers, brother Robert Muhlenbruch, brother-in-law Harold Mann and nephew Craig Mann.

Gertrude’s family would like to thank the staff at Kennybrook Village and Suncrest Home Health & Hospice for all of their support and for their great care given to Gertrude.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer and Messiah Lutheran Church in Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2020, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Gertrude's family is requesting those in attendance to please wear a mask. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
