Doris Hannah, 92

Doris Hannah, 92, of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at West Fork United Methodist Church in rural Sheffield with burial in Ingham Township Cemetery in Hansell. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. Memorials may be directed to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice or the West Fork United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 
 
Doris Mary (Paulus) Hannah, 92, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. She was born January 17, 1931, in Rockford, IA to Edward and Goldie (Vestal) Paulus. Doris graduated from Hansell High School and was valedictorian of her class of 1949. She was married on January 11, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa to James (Toad) Hannah. Toad and Doris raised their children on the family farm, and she enjoyed the life of farming. She was a longtime member of the Hansell United Methodist Church until they closed and then became a member of the West Fork United Methodist Church. Doris loved reading & loved a good hand of 500 with family and friends. Some of the activities she enjoyed were, Sunday School teacher, Methodist Ladies Group, Bowling, Hansell Alumni Banquet Committee, Senior Center, FGH Auxiliary 500 Card Club, making and sharing her crochet blankets for all her family. At family gatherings, Doris was known for her famous deviled eggs and her ice cream roll. She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s many activities through the years. She and Toad enjoyed many vacations, especially to Alaska & Hawaii.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Giddings of Hampton, son Dave and wife Becky Hannah of Hampton, Six grandchildren Matt (Amy) Giddings of Farmington, MN, Brandon (Nichole) Giddings of Grand Junction, CO, Sarah (Quinn) Showalter of St. Charles, IL, Jennifer (Josh) Shaw of Maple Grove, MN, Brian (Valerie) Hannah of Urbandale, IA, Drew (Melanie) Hannah of Marion, IA, Thirteen Great Grandchildren Kailee (Zack Nehm), Maddison, Ayden Giddings, Alex and Jake Giddings, Will, Graham and Amelia Showalter, Mason and Tyler Shaw, Harley, Maddy and Lily Hannah, Sister Rose Bates of Georgetown, TX, Brother Leo Paulus of Fort Worth, TX, Brother Frank Paulus of Georgetown, TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 
 
Doris was preceded in death by husband, James (Toad) Hannah, sister Darlene Kotenbrink, son-in law Greg Giddings and her parents.
 
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Franklin Country View Care Center, Franklin General Hospital and MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
