Don Gray, 77

Don Gray, 77, of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Franklin General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29^th, at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton with a time of fellowship to follow at the Hampton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the MercyOne North Iowa Hospice or the American Cancer Society. 

Donald Lee Gray was born on September 25, 1943, in Lewis, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Roberta (Briggs) Gray. He graduated from Griswold High School in 1962.

Don married his high school sweetheart Jan on December 7, 1963. To this union, two children were born, Christy and Jerry.

Don was employed by Philips 66 in Oakland, Iowa, Meadow Gold Dairy in Harlan, Iowa, Cargill Seeds in Britt, Iowa, Northrup King, Fontanelle and Printing Services while living in Hampton. 

He enjoyed playing cribbage and golf with his best buddies. He loved his beloved Dodgers, Packers and Cyclones.

Don was an amazing husband, father and grandfather who led by example, and nothing gave him greater joy than being there for his family. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Roberta, brother Bob, father and mother-in-law Roy and Angela Newman. 

He will be missed by his wife Janice, daughter Christy (Kevin) Hand of Jewell, son Jerry (Carrie) of Urbandale, grandchildren Taylor, Alex, Drew, Jake and Michael, brother Ron (LeeAnn) of Colorado Springs, Gary (Judy) of Omaha along with numerous nieces and nephews.
