Dixie Honold, 81

Dixie Lee Louks Fink Honold was born on January 6, 1941, in Nevada, IA to Maxine (Hoel) and Caroll Louks.  

She started school at Milford Consolidated and graduated in 1959 from Nevada High School.  On February 27, 1960, she married William Fink in Colo.  To this union two children, Duwayne (Nancy) Fink and Denise (Greg) Wilgenbusch.  Bill died of cancer in July 1985.  Dixie remained active in her church, school and community. On June 17, 1995, she married Roger Honold at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colo.  They lived on an acreage outside of Ogden then moved to Grimes.  Their last years were spent in Pleasant Hill, IA.  

Dixie is survived by her children, Duwayne (Nancy) Fink of Groton, CT and Denise (Greg) Wilgenbusch of Milwaukee, WI.  Her 3 stepchildren, Nancy (Tom) Teigen of Fort Worth, TX, Carol Barnett of Jefferson City, MO, and David (Karen) Honold of Des Moines.  Her grandchildren Annette (Kenny Drew) Miller of Sterling Heights, MI, Mackenzie (Steve) Gersdorf, Meredith Fink of Waukee, IA, Bret Wilgenbusch of Omaha, NE, Alex Wilgenbusch of Milwaukee, WI, Peter (Lizzie) Teigen, Des Moines, IA, Laura (Brooks) Kromer Jefferson City, MO, Kari Teigen of Fort Worth, TX, Joey Honold of Des Moines and Paul Honold of Des Moines.  Her great granddaughters, Jordan and Riley Gersdorf of Waukee, IA.  Dixie has 1 sister, Linda Appelgate of Ames, IA and several nieces and nephew plus many friends. 

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Fink and Roger Honold, and her parents. Dixie was an avid Cubs and Iowa State Fan. She loved to crochet and play games. Her laughter and smile will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church (422 4th Street) in Colo with Fr. Rick Dagit officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Nevada.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Iowa.
