Carlene Wiarda

Carlene Wiarda (Nolte), 83, of Ackley, passed away on November 30, 2025, at Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 12:00 – 2:00p.m., December 8, 2025, at Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. She will be laid to rest at the Dumont Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those planning an expression of sympathy, memorials will be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice, in care of Carlene’s Care Team and Washington Reformed Church of Ackley. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Carlene and her family.

Carlene was born on October 19, 1942, to Henry and Viola (Freeze) Nolte in Ellsworth Hospital, Iowa Falls. She attended Dumont High School and was a graduate of the class of 1960. After high school she attended Ellsworth College and graduated in 1962. Following college, she worked as a clerk at local law offices for many years. Carlene was a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of the Washington Reformed Church in Ackley, where she played the organ for many years. Carlene also gave piano lessons for many years to area students. That love of music was carried over and she would play for family gatherings and would always charm everyone’s spirits with Christmas music. 

She is survived by her sons: Jeffrey (Christa) Wiarda, and Chad Wiarda, grandchildren: Jessica (Jesse) Wegner, Jennifer (Rick) Devore, and Jeremy (Keily) Arends, greatgrandchildren: Ava and Ella Wegner, Olivia, Nora and Jack Devore, and Delaney and Grady Arends. Brother: William (Kathy) Nolte: and sister-in-law Diane Nolte. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Carlene was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Viola and her brother Alvin Nolte.
