Beverly Viet, 84, of Dumont, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton under Care Initiatives Hospice. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2026, at Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Dumont Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Bev and her family.
Beverly M. Viet was born October 16, 1941, to Donald and Minnie (Kriens) Ritter. She graduated from Hampton High School, class of 1960. Bev was united in marriage to Ronald Viet on June 5, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, two children were born: Donald Dean and Dawn Ranae.
Bev worked at Maytag in Hampton from 1972 until the plant closed in December 1985. She also worked at AFG Coating and Winnebago Industries in Hampton until her retirement in January 2004. Bev actively attended church and although she had not been attending regularly in recent years, her faith in God remained strong.
Bev was a selfless and devoted caregiver, a dedicated homemaker, and a hardworking house cleaner to many. She was always ‘putzing’ around the house; always wanting to keep busy. Bev was an exceptional cook and baker. If you left her house hungry, it was your own fault! She enjoyed canning her own fruits and vegetables, proudly insisting they always tasted far better than anything store-bought. She also enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, plastic canvas and a variety of crafts.
Bev developed a deep passion for genealogy. She devoted countless hours to researching her family history, preserving generations of stories and connections. Her dedication is reflected in the many notebooks and binders she carefully compiled, filled with photos, articles, records, and newspaper clippings. Some of her happiest moments were spent gathered around the table during family game nights, playing board games, cards and dominoes. Bev was deeply family-oriented and cherished time spent with her loved ones—especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters, whom she adored. She loved telling stories about them and never missed an opportunity to share their photos.
Bev is survived by her son Donald (Donna) Viet of Hampton; grandson Coleman (Tiffany) Kangley of Minonk, Illinois; grandson Ethan (Jessica) Viet of Hampton; granddaughter Carlee (Tanner) Bohman of Latimer; five great-granddaughters: Braelynn and Vera Kangley of Minonk, Illinois; Kinsley and Beckham Viet of Hampton; and Bellamy Bohman of Latimer; sisters-in-law Sharon Uhlenhopp of Hansell and JoAnn Ritter of Weslaco, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald Viet; daughter Dawn Ranae Kangley; and brother Mike Ritter.
Memorials may be directed to the Viet family.
