A new mural is being painted in Hampton and is the result of a planned effort to bring communities together through arts and culture. The mural is being painted on the 2nd Ave NW side First and Second Vintage Too! which sits at the corner of 2nd Ave NW and 1st st NW in downtown Hampton. 

Those petunias don’t water themselves

Some astute residents of Hampton may have noticed one or some of the twenty hanging pots of petunias hanging from downtown flagpoles lately. Their presence gracing Hampton’s downtown is owed to the concerted and coordinated labors of many individuals and businesses in Hampton, whose communal aspirations for community betterment were brought to fruition by the Chamber of Commerce and the dogged efforts of Director Bill Hittle. 

Visitors and talent at the 2023 Franklin County Fair are in for a real treat this year as they will be enjoying a major grandstand lighting and electrical upgrade courtesy of the Franklin County Fair Foundation, the Franklin County Fair Board, Musco Lighting, Mid-American Energy and A & M Electric. The total cost of the project will be around $200,000 and is the result of an initiative embarked upon by the Franklin County Fair Board and Franklin County Fair Foundation in 2008 and rebooted in 2023. 

The Kiwanis Club of Hampton has made a $10,000 donation to the Franklin Wellness Center R3 Capital Campaign which is seeking to raise $1,000,000 “to Refresh, Renew and Reenergize the Franklin Wellness Center.” The campaign had raised $800,000 by the beginning of June according to FWC Director Luke Ross, who is pictured accepting a ceremonial check from Kiwanis Club of Hampton President Belen Krabbe and Treasurer Kent Mollenbeck June 27th.
