SHEFFIELD – A few months ago when a terrible accident happened to West Fork senior Lindsey Peterson, no one thought the 5-foot-8 post player would return to the basketball court.
During the Tuesday, Feb. 18 Class 2A Region 3 playoff game against Denver, she was back in spades.
Before the game, Warhawk coach Rodney Huber said that he’d ease her into it, but she played several minutes and helped out in rebounding with five, scored four points while adding three steals and a pair of assists and blocked shots against a good Denver team as West Fork scored a 61-44 win over the Cyclones after receiving an opening-round bye.
“We just came into the game to kind of see how she looked and she looked like she was in really good shape and was a huge spark for the team,” Huber said. “She had quite a few steals and a couple of buckets and that is what we were looking for.
“Her intensity and quickness in the post position was a good deal for us.”
