Jo Ann L. Petersen

Jo Ann L. Petersen, 89, of Rockwell, IA passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of North Iowa on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  Per her wishes, she will be cremated with no services scheduled at this time.  Arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.

Jo Ann was born in Rockwell on February 22, 1936, in Cerro Gordo County, to Russell and Alberta (Wray) Conway.  She grew up in Dougherty/Rockwell and graduated from Rockwell High School.  On April 25, 1954, Jo Ann was united in marriage to Jackie “Jack” Petersen at St. Peter Lutheran Church and to their union, four children were born.  The couple shared 66 years together until Jack’s passing in 2020.

Jo Ann worked as a bookkeeper for the Rockwell Elevator until her retirement in 1981.  She was a proud member of the Iowa Bookkeeper’s Association and elected the first women’s president of the association.  Jo Ann was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She spent a lot of her time researching family history and tracking genealogy.  Jo Ann was an avid golfer and played in many club championships in Rockford, Rockwell and Arizona.  She was so proud to have three holes-in-ones throughout her lifetime.  Jo Ann and her husband, Jack, enjoyed traveling and snow birding in Arizona together.  They were constantly taking camping trips in the summers as they were able.  Jo Ann was an excellent gardener and loved tending to her flowers.  She loved being a grandmother; Jo Ann attended many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s ball games and activities.  Her legacy she left as a wife, mother and grandmother will always be remembered.

Those left carry on her legacy include her children: Antoinette (Todd) Becker, Kim Bosch, Scott (Stephanie) Petersen and Kevin (Jacque) Petersen; sister, Karen Dralle; brother, Allen (Diane) Conway; grandchildren: Ezra Pierce, Bob Bosch, Krystle (Adam) Bosch-Allison, Tyler Petersen, Sadie (Kevin) Kurtz, Ashley Petersen and Brad Petersen; great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Alexander and Kendrick Bosch and Ace, Eli, Leo and Fyn Allison and sister-in-law, Huberte Conway.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; parents-in-law; siblings: Jerry Conway and Kay Peters and son-in-law, Lonnie Bosch.
