Grateful to be an Iowan
By:
Rep. Randy Feenstra
Every year, Thanksgiving is a time to pause and reflect on God’s endless grace and blessings. I’m grateful for my loving wife of 32 years, my four wonderful kids, friends, and neighbors. I’m
thankful that Iowans have placed their faith and trust in me to represent our communities in Congress with integrity, dignity, and professionalism. I’m grateful to be an Iowan and live in the
greatest state and the greatest country on Earth.
Iowa is special. Neighbors look out for neighbors, our communities are strong, and our values are rooted in faith and family. I’m a fourth-generation Iowan who grew up in the same small
community where I still love, where I met my wife, and where my wife and I raised our children. I worked as head of sales for a large candy company, oversaw the insurance division across
several Iowa State Bank branches, and taught business at my alma mater – Dordt University.
I later served as Hull City Administrator, Sioux County Treasurer, and Chairman of the Iowa Senate Ways and Means Committee, where I wrote and passed the largest tax cut in state history
at the time. I was then fortunate enough to be elected to Congress, serving as the only member of Congress on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and House Agriculture
Committee. On these committees, I was influential in writing President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, which prevented the largest tax increases in U.S. history, invested in domestic
manufacturing, and supported our agricultural community.
Simply put, I’ve lived the American dream in Iowa, and I believe that every Iowan deserves to live their own version of the American dream. That’s why, in Congress, I’ve worked to lower taxes, strengthen Iowa agriculture, revive
domestic manufacturing, and invest in affordable healthcare, especially in rural Iowa. I’ve voted to ensure that our veterans receive the benefits that they have earned and deserve, introduced
legislation to help our kids pursue further educational opportunities, and worked to keep China away from Iowa farmland. Additionally, I’ve prioritized helping our small businesses keep more
of the money they earn, securing critical resources to our rural hospitals, investing in our troops and military families, and delivering needed tax relief for Iowa seniors who deserve to retire with
dignity after a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice.
My promise to Iowa is that I will always put our families, communities, and state first. I will work to deliver for our families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses and advance real policy
solutions to the challenges facing Iowa and our nation. It is an honor to represent Iowans in Congress, and I’m grateful that I can use my voice in Washington to advocate for the places and
people that make Iowa so special.
