Julie Gail (Schmidt) Ulerich

Julie Ulerich, age 70, passed away August 14, 2025. She was born December 4, 1954 to Ewald G. and Doris R. (Nolte) Schmidt. Julie grew up in Hampton, IA and graduated from Hampton High School in the class of 1973. She attended Hamilton College in Mason City, IA where she learned her secretarial skills. She moved to Minneapolis, MN for a job at an accounting firm, and then she went on to be an executive assistant at a major metropolitan bank there. She met her husband, Bill, there and they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, IA on May 1, 1982. They went on to live in Wayne, NE and later in Omaha, NE. They eventually moved to Bill’s home state of Indiana and settled in Columbus, IN. There she was an executive assistant and valued employee in an accounting firm until her retirement in 2020. After her husband passed away, she moved to Hope, IN to be near her daughter and family. Julie was a loving mother and so proud of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Ulerich, her parents, Ewald and Doris Schmidt, both sets of grandparents, and her in-laws, Dwight and Lois Ulerich.

She is survived by her children; Craig (Ondrea) Ulerich of Talent, OR and Stephanie (Josh) Roberts of Hope, IN; her grandchildren; Isaiah and Abigail Ulerich and Madison and Jensen Roberts. Also survived by her sister Nancy (Dean) Schroeder of Iowa Falls, IA and niece Sarah Schroeder of Ankeny, IA and sister Connie (Lee) Rule of Janesville, IA and numerous cousins.

Her services were held on August 23, 2025 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Cambridge City, IN.
