Betty Lavon Johnson

Betty Lavon Johnson, 94, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 23, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday Oct. 28 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Latimer with visitation one hour prior to services. Betty will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Betty and her family.

Betty was born on Nov. 18, 1929 to Burton and Elsie Nelson Blanchard. She was married to Lewis Johnson on Sept. 26, 1946 in Albert Lea, MN. To this union four children were born.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Keith) Freie of Hampton, and Vicki (Paul) Sondag of Williamsburg, IA.

Grandchildren: Dan (Hannah) Freie, Erin Dickerson, Rochelle (Marc) Sido, Rachel (Dan) Manders, Steven (Ashley) Anderson, Derek (Allison) Sondag, and Cindy Whigham.

Great-Grandchildren: Finley, Blakely, Greyley, and Hayden Freie, Alex and Tyler Nolton and Preston Dickerson, and Kyleigh Sido. Jack and Jacob Manders, Presley and Aria Anderson, and Jackson and Riley Sondag.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis, infant daughter, Jane Marie, son, Jim, and Grandson, Joseph.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Pauls Lutheran School in Latimer, Iowa.
