DeCosters to carry out prison sentence

Austin "Jack" DeCoster and son Peter DeCoster are scheduled to carry out prison sentences for their role in the 2010 salmonella outbreak.
Jack DeCoster was the owner of Quality Egg LLC and his son, Peter, served as the company's chief operating officer. Operating under the name Wright County Egg, the company recalled hundreds of millions of eggs in 2010 after an outbreak of salmonellosis was traced back to their facilities.
According to court documents, the Centers for Disease Control estimated that 56,000 Americans fell ill after consuming contaminated eggs during the outbreak. FDA investigations into those facility concluded that Quality Egg had failed to comply with their own written plans for bio-security and salmonella prevention.
