Earlier this summer, Hampton’s Windsor Theatre began offering movies in Spanish, which has proven to be a welcomed addition to the area’s entertainment scene.
Jim Davies, Windsor Manager, said attendance varies by the movie playing, as it does with the English movies. The movies shown each Sunday are typically the English films showing at the Windsor that week. The most popular, he said, are children’s movies. The highest attended Spanish movie since the shows began in June was the first week of “Toy Story 4,” which attracted 71 guests.
Show times are at 4 p.m. on Sundays, which means tickets fall under matinee prices. Davies said that the theater may consider alternate times or days to attract more viewers and that he also welcomes feedback from guests to enhance the experience and increase attendance.
Davies said while work still needs to be done to get the word out to potential viewers, he’s pleased with the success of the movies so far and is excited to continue to offer it to the Hispanic community.
