ROCKWELL – When the day started, it appeared to be a scorcher for the West Fork cross country invitational at Rockwell’s Linn Grove Golf Course.
However, a little more than an hour before race time, a cold front, bringing just a slight amount of rain cooled things off tremendously to the benefit of everyone involved.
The Warhawks used it to their advantage, scoring second-place team finishes behind Mason City Newman in both the girls’ and boys’ races.
Senior Kenna Weaver won the girls’ individual title breaking away from Northwood-Kensett’s Lindsey Davidson in the final 100 yards to win by six seconds at 18:21.76.
