CLEAR LAKE – Punch for punch, West Fork and Central Springs traded blows in the Class 2A District 4 baseball opener at Clear Lake, going 10 innings in an eventual 12-7 Panther win.
Five lead changes and two ties went into this post-season clash in which Warhawk head coach Lance Thompson could not have asked for more from his team.
“Like I told them before this week, we just had to go out and compete every single pitch,” Thompson said. “From the start of the game, to the end of the game, they did that. There’s a lot of times that they gave up some runs in extra innings. They could have stopped playing, but they battled back to tie it up. I’m very proud of them.”
