Around 40 people packed into the lodge at Maynes Grove Sept. 23 to hear campaign stumps from two Hampton mayoral candidates and a host of statewide political figureheads at the Franklin County Democrats' Fall Rally.

Michael Ziegler, Chair of the Franklin County Democrats, hosted the event that included a supper and fundraising auction. Several state and national campaign officials representing Bruce Braley, Jim Mowrer, Jack Hatch and the Iowa Democratic Party were on hand to give fiery speeches on their candidates' campaigns.      Weldin, who formerly served eight years as Hampton's mayor, was given the stage first and explained her platform and goals to visitors.
