Wednesday JH athletic practices eliminated at H-D

Back-to-school facility updates and district policy changes topped a short agenda at the Hampton-Dumont Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Though no formal action was taken on the matter, the board encouraged 7-12 Activities Director Nate Boock to move forward with a policy cancelling Wednesday practices for all junior high extracurricular activities. H-D dismisses early each Wednesday for staff development, and it's become hard to keep track of 7-8 grade students from the time they get dismissed at 1 p.m. until practices start at 4 p.m.

Students can stay at school to work on homework or play in the gym, but it's only an option.
