MASON CITY – Kenna Weaver has been through a lot in her cross country career.

Her Top of Iowa Conference experience since she was a freshman has been up-and-down with Weaver experiencing pain while running to a fourth-place finish overall last year.

But this year was Weaver’s year, winning the title by holding off a motivated Lindsey Davidson of Northwood-Kensett by two seconds.

She even remembers that to her standards, her junior year finish at the TIC meet wasn’t good enough.

“(It was) not too hot,” Weaver said. “I think it was pretty rough. I’m pretty sure I was fifth, it was not good.”
