Infrastructure improvement projects are heating up in Hampton with the arrival of favorable late-spring weather.
Workers have been completing a water main replacement project in the southwest part of town for the past two weeks. Outdated pipes caused problematic main breaks in recent years, which forced a complete overhaul between Fifth and Seventh Avenue Southwest.
The project will cost the city around $115,000 and is hoped for completion by mid-June.
“It’s not a huge project, but it’s a good project,” said Public Works Director Doug Tarr. “These two blocks were the most troublesome in the last 10 years. It’s a good one to get done.”
